Lying in the lap of the Western Ghats, Pudussery Grama Panchayat, a suburban village situated in the Palghat Gap laced by the bounties of Mother nature forests, mountains and rivulets. With an area of about 223 sq.km and a population of around 55,000 located on the NH 47 is bordered by the neighbouring state of Tamilnadu on one side and the grama panchayats of Marutharoad, Elappully, and Vadakarapathy and Malampuzha on its other sides. The Panchayat functioning as toll collection centre in the earlier years of independent India has developed into a cradle of many public and private sector undertakings booming up over the years.

This centre started functioning as Pudussery Grama Panchayat with its first group of elected representatives spearheaded by Sri.Sree Ramakrishna Iyer as President in the year 1962. Over the years development in all sectors - beit agriculture, health, education, drinking water, industry or employement has taken place leaps and bounds. Multinationals like Pepsico, Saint Gobain,Koso Fluid Controls, etc and Public sector undertakings such as the instrumentation India Ltd. Fluid control and Research Institute, BEML , Indian Telephones, Malabar Cements Ltd, etc and other Private sectors like the United Breweries Ltd., Precot Mills, Paragon Steels, Patspin, Rubfilla, AP Steel Rolling Mills and lot more savour employment to thousands in and around the district of Palakkad.
